What To Expect During Your Treatment
Reiki treatments are conducted on a standard treatment table and usually take 45 to 60 minutes. There is no need to remove any clothing or jewellery as Reiki is effective through all materials including cloth, blankets, bandages and plaster casts.
Using gentle contact, your practitioner will employ a sequence of hand positions covering the head, torso, arms and legs pausing over those areas that need particular consideration. Reiki energy is accessed and directed by the practitioner to enhance the body’s own natural healing ability and promote wellbeing. There is nothing you need do, think or say during the treatment—just allow the energy to work for you.
You may feel sensations such as warmth or coolness, mild tingling or muscle twitching during or after your treatment. A common experience is a sense of deep relaxation, peace and wellbeing. Many people report relief from pain and anxiety, improved energy, mood and sleep.
Reiki
Reiki is a non-invasive, gentle yet powerful method of healing. It is, perhaps, the best known of the energy-based modalities. Reiki stands on its own as a healing practice and is also used in support of orthodox medicine and other complementary therapies.
Reiki is increasingly accepted in health and community care facilities including hospitals, hospices and cancer support units.
The abundant anecdotal evidence of the benefits of Reiki has been the catalyst for numerous trials and studies. The National Institutes of Health, USA, have trials underway for chronic conditions including stress, fibromyalgia, cancer, neuropathy and cardio-vascular disease.
Objective measurements in other trials show decreases in stress hormone levels and heart rate and improved immune indicators and blood pressure. Many patients report subjective improvements in anxiety and pain levels, nausea and breathing difficulties.
